A teenager from Norfolk has revealed how she is lucky be alive after narrowly escaping death in a car accident- only to become the victim of a crazed knife attack by a former best friend.
18-year-old Sarah Green was left in hospital with serious personal injuries after being involved in a road smash in March 2005. Doctors feared for her life but she pulled through and was well on the road to recovery when further tragedy happened.
Out walking twelve weeks after the car accident, Miss Green was set upon by a former friend, Anita Gibbs, and stabbed repeatedly in the chest, arms and buttocks with a steak knife. The two had previously fallen out but the frenzied attack came as a complete shock to the victim.
Describing the shocking attack, Miss Green said, "She just kept stabbing me. I didn't know what to do. Because I was still recovering from the accident I couldn't run away. I decided the best thing to do was to pretend I was dead. I don't know what gave me the idea but think it helped save my life."
Gibbs denied any memory of the attack and said she had just come out of hospital after taking an overdose. A court recently found her guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and she will be sentenced following the completion of psychological reports.
Miss Green, now fully recovered from the car accident and the stabbing, is expecting her first baby later in the year.
