How to prevent driver fatigue and reduce car accident rates
Car Accident Advice Line is not only here to advise you on how you can make a car accident claim but is also here to help you avoid the opportunity of a car accident occurring. We provide road safety advice and driving tips to ensure that Britain's roads are less dangerous for all that drive on them.
We are aware that many of you have no choice but to drive long distances. Many drive across country for leisure purposes while others mount up their mileage when commuting between their home and place of work.
Here are a few tips that will help you long-distance travellers. They are very important as fatigued drivers are responsible for a large proportion of car accidents in the UK. As soon as you start to feel weary make sure you do the following:
Stop in a safe place at the next opportunity, preferably a service station, not the hard shoulder
Take a brisk walk around so that you get some fresh air in your lungs and stretch out your tired muscles
Re-fuel with a little something to eat but avoid dairy products or anything too sugary or fatty as they may make you even more sluggish
Drink plenty of water but avoid excessive amounts of caffeine and sugar as they will provide inconsistent energy bursts rather than healthy re-hydration
*A replacement vehicle can usually be supplied within 4-6 working hours, where there is an admission of liability from the other person’s insurance company. If this person is not known, their insurance details are not known, they are uninsured or there is a potential dispute over who caused the accident, a replacement vehicle cannot be provided.
