Train crash news 23/05/2008
Train and car crash in Inverness, only minor injury reported A Scottish railway worker narrowly escaped injury when his car crashed with a train on a railway line near Inverness this weekend. The Ford Focus was driving across a level crossing when the accident occurred; the car was knocked into the verge, landing on its side, and the driver had to be cut from his vehicle. The shinty equipment he had been carrying was left around the crash scene. The extent of the driver's personal injury was reported as a broken ankle, although a broken leg was suspected. None of the passengers or the driver on the train reported any personal injury. A relative of the injured man said "It has been an accident waiting to happen. "It is a miracle he was on his own. We are really thankful the kids weren't in the car with him. Who knows what would have happened then." The rail company declined to discuss the car crash until they had concluded their investigations.
