Driver bans herself after car accident with stuck steering wheel A 20-year-old has vowed never to drive again after a freak car crash that resulted from a locked steering wheel and left her car embedded in the front wall of a Portsmouth man's house. The woman's car, a Citroen Saxo, ended up only inches away from a TV in the front room and the surprised 59-year-old who had been watching it. The driver, who had only recently passed her test, said that she had been taking a bend just before the car accident occurred, and the steering wheel refused to come back to central. She and her three passengers narrowly missed a lamppost before striking the house, although the driver says she blacked out before the actual collision. She said, "I woke up and I couldn't feel my legs. I was terrified. My friend was shouting to me 'it's okay, we'll get you out'. "I was just hoping nobody inside was hurt." Fortunately no serious personal injury resulted from the car accident. Neither the driver nor her passengers reported whiplash injuries, although all did receive cuts and bruises. Police are now examining her car, which is a write-off, for potential technical faults. The house owner is looking at a very large insurance bill, as there is structural damage to the building. Speaking of her decision to avoid all car crashes in future by not driving, she said, "This was my first crash and it was a big one. I am never going to drive again. That's it."
